This is the tile of an article published today 16/10/12 in the Sydney Morning Herald.
It is written by well-known Australian Author Anna Feinberg who has written the much-loved children’s book series of “Tashi “stories.
The text discusses the implications of funding for the continued employment of teacher- librarians in NSW public Schools. The NSW Government is deploying the responsibility of financial management and teacher employment to Primary School Principals under it’s “Local Schools Local Decisions ” policy. This will mean that it will be entirely up to the Principal IF he employs a teacher-librarian at all. At present teacher-librarians are employed under a state-wide employment formula which guarantees a teacher-librarian in every Primary school, employed on a school population formula.
Parents of Primary school children in all schools should be very concerned.
