Sandra Jean Smith was born in Annandale ,Sydney New South Wales in 1950. The eldest of three children growing up in small rural community of Quaker's Hill on the outskirts of Sydney,a close knit but diverse community of Australian born and post war migrants. A Primary school teacher,studying at Westmead Teacher's College and Nepean CAE she later studied Teacher Librarianship at Charles Sturt University,Wagga Wagga,graduating in 1993.A wife, mother and grandmother,Taichi student and instructor for 20 years ,reading ,music ,singing and painting as well as gardening and family history research are some of her other interests. A career in teaching spanning 30 years has led to a realisation that a guide for modern parents to best prepare their children for learning was needed.
